Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Blue Ridge

We know first-hand the impact that one-to-one mentoring relationships have on our community. President Gordon Sutton serves as a Big Brother in our local BBBS chapter. Our customers were invited to round up their transaction to support BBBS youth development.
First Responders

First Responders

We love our local heroes! First responders receive a complimentary coffee, fountain drink and 25% off deli items at our Markets every day. On 24/7 Day (July 24th), our Markets deliver catered breakfasts and lunches for over 300 paramedics, EMTs, police officers, firefighters and medical professionals in Central Virginia.

JackFest

We want to pay it forward in our community. We support JackFest, a local festival that helps families impacted by childhood cancer to find the best care possible at UVA Children’s Hospital.

St. Baldrick’s Foundation

We’re dedicated to funding the best research possible and finding a cure for childhood cancer. We contributed $20,000 to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation’s ‘With Walker Hero Fund’, focused on research for pediatric brain tumors and immunotherapy.

Tiger Through the Years

1982

Tiger Fuel Company began operations in Charlottesville, Va., with the acquisition of Bascom Oil Company. We came from humble beginnings, with only two used trucks on our lot to deliver heating oil.

1990

As our fossil fuel footprint expanded, we opened a bulk heating plant in Lovingston, Va., to better service customers in Nelson County.

1991

It’s not every day that a 3-bay auto-mechanic service station is transformed into a convenience store deli! Considered one of the first gourmet-to-go gas stations, Bellair Market received widespread attention for its delicious sandwiches, classic charm and local product offerings.

Bert-Love-93

1993

As major oil companies divested gas stations, we launched our dealer wholesale division, distributing BP, Texaco, and Exxon branded gasoline to a large network of dealer sites. Today, we distribute fuel to 220 dealer locations across four states.

1995

A high-quality car wash goes hand in hand with fuel and convenience! We opened our first stand-alone car wash on Long Street in Charlottesville, Va (featuring the message board where locals proudly celebrate birthdays and anniversaries). Over the next two decades, we acquired four additional car washes and launched the All-American Car Wash brand.

2000

With more and more guests falling in love with our gourmet sandwiches and friendly service, we built a second deli and convenience store, The Market at Mill Creek.

2007

We acquired two oil companies in Appomattox, Virginia and began delivering fuel to customers in Appomattox, Buckingham, Lynchburg and surrounding counties.

2012

We acquired Brockman Oil in Orange, Va and began delivering heating oil, propane and gasoline to customers in Madison County.

2018

Looking to lower operating costs and generate clean energy, we partnered with Altenergy Solar to solar power two of our newest gourmet-to-go convenience stores, The Market at Preston and The Market at Ruckersville. The solar systems supply more than half of each facility’s electrical needs and mark a pivotal step in reducing our carbon footprint.

2019

Wash, wax and shine in under 3 minutes! We built a state-of-the-art, 90-foot express tunnel in Ruckersville, Va., with flashing lights, spinning wraps and horse powered dryers. As the largest family operated car wash chain in Central Virginia, we launched a new brand, TigerWash, to match our modern and innovative technology offerings.

2021

Realizing there was a strong cultural alignment with Altenergy Solar, we made significant investments in their people, equipment and operations. With the same local people and exceptional, high-quality service, Altenergy transitioned to a new name, Tiger Solar. Our family grew to 350+ employees, operating across four states.

2024

2024 was a banner year for The Tiger Family of Local Brands. Tiger acquired The Anderson Companies of Fredericksburg, giving the company its fifth bulk plant in Virginia. Tiger also opened its 10th Market by Tiger in the town of Scottsville, Virginia — the company’s first site 100% branded as Tiger. TigerWash opened a new tunnel wash on Long Street within the city of Charlottesville, VA. In addition, TigerWash acquired a tunnel wash on Route 29 North in Albemarle County, VA.
