Anton Martz
Assistant Branch Manager | Tiger Solar | Charlottesville, VA
Tiger Solar’s environment provides the chance for employees to always learn and educate one another.
Recently celebrating his third year with Altenergy (now Tiger Solar), Anton Martz is a hard-working and dedicated Assistant Branch Manager for the Charlottesville branch with a passion for the solar industry, “I think the solar industry is very exciting and evolving very rapidly. It’s a chance for somebody to learn electricity and working with their hands, while also being able to pursue a professional license,” Martz emphasized.
Prior to working in the solar field, Martz worked in an office setting, eventually realizing he wanted to pursue a job that allowed him to be outside and work amongst different crews. His desire to solve both complex and simple problems highlight his dedication and strong work ethic.
For Martz, a typical workday consists of preparing the field crew to complete solar installation projects. After checking product lists and making necessary modifications, Martz ensures the installation team is ready for the day ahead. But his work doesn’t stop there. Martz monitors all current projects and interacts with clients, ensuring they feel secure and confident in Tiger Solar’s leadership and installation work. “I like to pair the seasoned installers with the new installers to help them grow their skills. I meet with the seasoned installers once or twice a week to show them what I pay attention to in hopes that it creates a trickle-down effect with the newer faces.”
While Martz is clearly dedicated and passionate about the solar industry, it wasn’t always an area he knew so much about. He decided to complete solar education classes to develop his knowledge of renewable energy. While Tiger Solar encourages these courses, they aren’t required upon initial hiring. Martz’ willingness to take initiative is a main reason why he represents the spirit of Tiger Solar so well. Martz encourages job seekers with interest in renewable energy to pursue these trade courses. “For people that don’t know what they want to do, having a trade is super beneficial. Tiger Solar’s environment provides the chance for employees to always learn and educate one another.”
When Martz isn’t working from a roof, managing his teams, or talking to clients, he’s either skiing in the hills of Snowshoe, West Virginia or farming on his property in the Shenandoah Valley. Recently, Martz got married on his “farmette” in Mount Sidney where the couple transformed a barn into a wedding venue. In his down time, Martz is extremely ingenious and creative, a quality that has served him well in his career with Tiger Solar.
Thank you, Anton, for your hard-work, dedication, and continued desire to gain knowledge as you lead others in your role for Tiger Solar!
